This lesson is inspired by the intricately welded steel SCULPTURES created by the Nigerian-born artist, Sokari Douglas Camp. Students will create a THREE-DIMENSIONAL figural sculpture that gives the illusion of WELDING, resembling Camp’s original sculptures, through a process that combines everyday materials like toilet paper tubes and tin foil. Students will also create their own fabric design, which will adorn the sculpture, along with Camp’s signature foliage tops.
