The book, Princess in Black is not about your average ball gown wearing royal, she is a superhero in disguise! One of the most popular styles to portray a super hero is with pop art (think comic books). Roy Lichtenstein made this style iconic in the 1960's. Using dots of varying sizes (pointillism!), Lichtenstein layered just a handful of colors to create amazing depth and definition.

In this lesson, students will use primary colored markers (red, yellow and blue) along with different types of line to create a superhero character. They will choose their favorite onomatopoeia to add drama to their work.
